The thing about meditation is: You become more and more you. (David Lynch)
WELCOME everyone to our meditation space on Sundays at the Yoga & Qigong School of Sumner. No matter whether it is your first meditation or you have done meditation before, this is an open space for you to sit as long as you like, and come & go as you please.
It is free - koha (donation) appreciated. If you can, please support the group with $5 to help cover the costs for hire & heating of the hall.
This group is about freedom to do meditation your own way - no strings attached, no things to comply with, no religious orientation involved. If you do have a religious orientation, which you prefer to follow, you are welcome as well, of course. Our group offers a space of openness, tolerance, inspiration and oneness.
Short guided meditations are available as a recording. The guided meditations offer basic instructions about how to sit and about breathing. Each is about 15 minutes in duration, with 15 minutes of Tibetan Bowl sounds in-between to help with silent meditation.
During the remaining time we sit in silence with the beautiful Tibetan Bowl sounds or other music, or nature sounds in the background.
The guided meditations are spoken by Russell Delman and we have his consent for using his instructions for our group (www.russelldelman.com). There is no further affiliation with Russell Delman and his teachings. He is simply offering beautifully pure and basic guided meditations, presenting them with a pleasant voice to listen to.
Bolsters, blankets and chairs from the yoga school are available for your usage. You are welcome to bring your own items, if you like.
You can sit or lie down, please choose whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Falling asleep is alright too and a good sign of deep relaxation :) even the Dalai Lama has said that sleep is a form of meditation.
The Yoga & Qigong School of Sumner is a beautiful place with good energy and a long yoga tradition for over 30 years. We enjoy this special space with its enhancing effects on meditation and also doing it together in a group. The Sumner Meditation Group was started in 2012 and has seen many people attending, for whom meditation was a first experience.
If you are interested in Yoga, we also offer a Yoga session prior to meditation from 4 - 5.15 pm. Yoga is a perfect preparation for meditation. Please look up the Yoga for Beginners class, Sundays at 4 pm. The koha (donation) for meditation is included in the fee for the Yoga session in case you wish to make use of this option and combine both events.
See you on a Sunday :)
